After a successful series of screening events during Problem Gambling Awareness Month in March, OPGS expanded the effort this fall. Twenty-nine organizations received $5,000 each to host screening events sponsored by M-TAC, totaling $145,000 in funding. These events make it easier for people to check their gambling habits and get connected to help if needed.
Screening is an important part of early detection, which is a fundamental public health strategy. It raises awareness and connects individuals to the care they need depending on their screening results. Screening services were provided across 15 communities in Massachusetts, including: Boston, Brockton, Dedham, Everett, Gardner, Hinsdale, Lowell, Malden, Monterey, New Bedford, Pittsfield, Quincy, Springfield, Taunton, and Worcester.
See the full list of participating organizations below and keep an eye out for the next cohort of organizations we’ll be working with in 2026.
